Currency Exchange:

Iceland has three major banks that all provide money exchange services, these are Íslandsbanki, Landsbanki Ísland and Búnaðarbanki. These banks can be found in even the smallest of villages and most have cash machines that can be used 24 hours a day. travellers cheques are also accepted by all banks and most hotels.

Credit Cards:

Credit cards are widely used in Iceland for purchases and cash advances. It is best to check with your issuing bank before you travel to find out if there is merchant availability in Iceland.

Banks:

The banking hours in Iceland are generally Monday to Friday from 9.15am to 4pm.
