Exchange:
Always
exchange money at licensed booths because
forged bank notes are a big problem in Hungary.
The licensed booths will always operate
under the consortium of a Hungarian commercial
bank. Photo ID may be required for exchange
of money. Travellers cheques are hard to
change in Hungary therefore it is best to
take notes.
Credit
Cards:
Most
credit cards are accepted, the most common
being American Express, Diners Club, EnRoute,
Euro/Mastercard, JCB and Visa, and these
can be used to withdraw cash from banks
and ATMs and to pay bills in hotels, restaurants
and most shops.
Banks:
Banks
generally open between 8am and 4pm on weekdays
and some are open on Saturdays.
